Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Geodit web platform and mobile application (together, the "App") collects, uses, shares and protects information. The App is provided by Antef Technologies Private Limited ("Antef", "we", "us"), registered in India, with its office in Fazilka, Punjab, India.
Geodit is a professional field-survey tool. It is used by field staff ("you") on behalf of an organisation — a government body, research institution, NGO or company — that has set up a survey on the Geodit platform (the "Organisation"). Understanding the two roles below is important to understanding how your data is handled.
The two kinds of data, and who is responsible
- Your account data — information about you as a user of the App (your name, email, role, device, and so on). For this data, Antef is the data controller. This policy governs how we use it.
- Survey data — the responses, photos, locations and any information about other people (respondents) that you collect in the field. This data belongs to and is controlled by the Organisation that commissioned the survey. For survey data, Antef acts only as a data processor, handling it on the Organisation's instructions under our agreement with them. The Organisation's own privacy notice and lawful basis govern that data; if you have questions about why specific survey data is collected or how it will be used, the Organisation is the right point of contact.
Information we collect
Account and identity information
Your name, email address, phone number (if provided), the Organisation and team you belong to, your assigned role (e.g. enumerator, supervisor, admin), and your login credentials (passwords are stored only in hashed form). Accounts are often created for you by your Organisation's administrator.
Precise location (GPS)
The App accesses your device's precise location to geotag survey responses, help you navigate to assigned survey points, and confirm that data was collected at the correct location. Location is accessed while you are using the App to collect or navigate — not continuously in the background.
Camera, photos and media
When a survey step requires it, the App uses your device camera and stores the photos you capture as part of the response. Captured media is held on your device until it syncs to the platform.
Survey responses
The answers you record against survey forms. Depending on the survey the Organisation has designed, these may include information about third-party respondents — such as names, addresses, property details or other attributes — entered by you on the Organisation's behalf.
Device and technical information
Device model, operating system version, App version, a unique installation/device identifier (used to coordinate offline data sync and assign reliable response identifiers), IP address, language settings, crash reports, and sync and diagnostic logs.
Timestamps
The date and time responses are created and submitted, for traceability and quality assurance.
Permissions the App uses
- Location — to geotag responses and navigate to survey points.
- Camera — to capture survey photos.
- Photos / storage — to save captured media and cache survey data for offline use.
- Network access — to sync data with the Geodit platform.
- Notifications (if enabled) — to alert you to assignments and sync status.
You can manage these permissions in your device settings. Denying location or camera access will prevent the App from performing survey functions that depend on them.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide and operate the survey-collection service.
- Geotag, timestamp and validate the data you collect.
- Sync your data and make it available to your Organisation.
- Generate reliable, unique identifiers for responses and coordinate offline-to-online sync.
- Maintain security, prevent misuse, and diagnose crashes and technical issues.
- Provide support to you and your Organisation.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or build advertising profiles.
How information is shared
With your Organisation
All survey data you collect is made available to the Organisation that commissioned the survey. They control and own that data.
With service providers (sub-processors)
We use trusted third parties to run the service, including cloud hosting and storage (Amazon Web Services), error and crash reporting, map and basemap tile providers, and push-notification delivery. They process data only to provide these services to us and are bound by appropriate confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
For legal reasons
We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety and security of users, the public or Antef.
On a business transfer
If Antef is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
Data storage, security and location
Survey and account data are stored on cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services). Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Data collected offline remains on your device until it is synced, after which the locally cached copy may be cleared.
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard information against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
Data may be processed and stored in India and in other countries where we or our service providers operate. Where data is transferred across borders, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable law.
Data retention
- Account data is retained for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service.
- Survey data is retained according to the Organisation's instructions and our agreement with them. Requests to delete survey data are directed to, and decided by, the Organisation.
- Locally cached data on your device is cleared after successful sync or when you log out.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. For users in the EU/UK, these rights arise under the GDPR / UK GDPR; for users in California, under the CCPA/CPRA.
- For your account data, contact us at info@antef.in and we will respond as required by law.
- For survey or respondent data, the Organisation is the controller — direct such requests to them. We will assist the Organisation in fulfilling them.
You can withdraw permissions at any time through your device settings.
Children's data
The App is intended for use by adult field staff (18+). The App is not directed at children as users. Surveys may, where the Organisation has a lawful basis, collect information about individuals including minors; in that case Antef processes such data only on the Organisation's instructions.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
